Obituary of Donald Charles Bacon
Donald Charles Bacon passed away on May 11, 2021. He was born August 14, 1927 in Madison, South Dakota to Harley and Elsie Bacon.
In 1931 the family moved to Pipestone, Minnesota where he attended elementary school and part of junior high. He completed his last four years and graduated from St. Cloud Tech. He then attended the University of Minnesota, receiving a Bachelor of Engineering degree.
During his college years he worked Summers with MN/DOT and continued on after graduation.
Donald spent two years in the Army Engineer Corps serving as an instructor at Ft. Belvoir, VA.
After his Honorable Discharge, he resumed his job with MN/DOT, now in Duluth, until his retirement after 38 years of service.
Donald married Annie Thompson in 1954. They were married 66 years.
Donald loved spending time at the cabin, fishing, traveling and bowling.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Dorothy.
Donald is survived by his wife, Annie; brother, Lane (Phyllis); one niece and five nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior on Wednesday, June 2nd at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Ave, Duluth.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to your favorite charity organization.
