Obituary of John Gilmond Jenstad
Jenstad, John Gilmond of San Diego, CA. Born Oct. 6, 1943; died April 24, 2021. John was a gentle and ethereal soul who dedicated his life to his Lord Jesus Christ. He loved his students at Tecate Mission in Tecate, CA. A lifelong scholar and teacher, John was loved by his students and staff alike. Graduate of De La Salle High School (1961) and the University of MN (1965). Naval Officer, 1965-1967. Holder of Masters Degrees in Math, Social Work and Comparative Religions. World missionary for the Gospel of Christ, John served in Surinam and Mexico. Adjunct Professor of Mathematics at San Diego City College. Avid bicycle rider, world traveler and all around nice guy. Preceded in death by parents Lois and Frosty Jenstad. Survived by brothers Erek (Elsa) and Orrin (Darlene), and sister Merritt Goldthwait, nephews Scott and Sander, niece Sarah, and a large and loving extended family. John passed peacefully at NC Little Hospice, whose Co-Director, Bob Solheim, was John's best lifelong friend since the age of 7. "To live is Christ, to die is gain." (Philippians 1:21.)
