Obituary of Kenneth Ray Young
Kenneth Ray Young, Sr, age 75, passed away on April 19, 2021 in Maple Grove, MN.
Mr. Young was born September 3, 1945 in Wichita Falls, TX to Charles Otis and Dorothy Juvene Young (Hedgepeth). After high school, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1970-1979, primarily aboard the U.S.S. Nimitz as a medical corpsman. Following his military service, he completed the Sunset School of Preaching in Lubbock, TX and served as the pulpit minister in Braman, OK, Lewisville, AR, and Linden, TX. He then worked for Olan Mills Portrait Studio until his retirement.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Linda Sue Young. He is survived by his brother Charles Young of Ft. Worth, TX; daughter, Angela Yates of Fort Worth, TX; sons, Kenneth (Amanda) Young of Maple Grove, MN and John (Diana) Young of Jonesboro, AR; 8 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
A lover of good stories, adventure, and his family, he was well known for sharing about his travels while in the Navy, telling “preacher stories,” remembering interesting people he met throughout his life, and sharing memories he cherished about his family. His joy of life and robust laugh will surely be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at a later date with details to be distributed among the family.
