Obituary of Lloyd N McCall
On March 29, 2021, Lloyd McCall died peacefully at the age of 97 with family in Minneapolis. Lloyd was born on May 31, 1923 in Rushford, NY, the son of Ira Newell McCall and Cleotra Williams McCall. He grew up on a farm with his five brothers and sisters. He was drafted into the Army Air Force where he served for 30 months during WWII, in both Italy and Washington DC. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from George Washington University in 1949. He devoted his career to IBM where he worked for 37 years, rising from field engineer to assistant general manager at the IBM plant in Burlington, VT.
Lloyd had numerous passions, but number one was golf. He loved playing with his golf buddies several times a week and enjoyed teaching others how to play the game. He also enjoyed volunteering, boating, fly-fishing, bridge and other card games. He will be remembered for his zest in life, his many friendships and his love for storytelling.
Lloyd is survived by his son, Jim McCall (Ursula McCall), his daughter, Nancy McCall (John Landry), his sister Gordys Robinson, his grandsons Dylan and Taylor McCall Landry as well as many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at The Episcopal Church of St. Peter by the Lake in Denver, NC on Friday, May 21 at 4 PM. In lieu of flowers, Lloyd preferred donations to East Lincoln Christian Ministry in Denver, NC.
