Obituary of Elizabeth (Betty Mae) Dunsmoor

Elizabeth (Betty Mae) Dunsmoor, joined her loving husband in heaven, on September 30, 2019. Betty was born on July 11, 1931, to Ben and Marie Cismoski.

She married the “love of her life”, Doug Dunsmoor, on September 1, 1951. They enjoyed 62 years of marriage, living the entire time in the West Duluth neighborhood.

Betty worked at the Blue Bell Café in West Duluth, which was owned by her sister-in-law, Shirley Behm. She was also a devoted member of St. James Catholic Church.

She enjoyed hosting huge family gatherings for the holidays, spending time with her children & grandchildren at the cabin on Lake Wilson and baking her famous Special K Bars & Oatmeal Cookies.

Betty was predeceased by her parents, husband Doug in 2013, brothers John Cismoski, David Cismoski & Marty Cismoski and sister Irene Nelson.

She is survived by her sisters: Marilyn Berg, Prescott, AZ & Helen Zollar, Tower, MN, daughter Barbara (John) Christensen, Cape Canaveral, FL, sons: Douglas (Karen) Dunsmoor, Superior, WI and William (DeAnna) Dunsmoor, St. Joseph, MN, granddaughters: Michelle (Eric) Calendine, Dana (Ben) Geving, Brooke Dunsmoor, Hailey (Travis Colgrove) Dunsmoor, grandsons: Ben (Christina) Christensen, Joe (Hastings Galloway) Dunsmoor, Matt (Tracy) Dunsmoor and Luke Dunsmoor, and 11 ½ great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at The Cremation Society on Grand Ave, on October 6, 2019. Visitation will be from 12:00 – 1:00 pm, service to follow. She will be interred at Fort Snelling at a later date.

Betty’s family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Essentia Health Palliative Care-9th floor, for making her final days happy, dignified and comfortable. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Second Harvest Food Bank.
