Obituary of Richard Delano Wessling

Wessling, Richard D. Age 86 of Mpls., passed away unexpectedly May 28, 2019. Preceded in death by parents Richard Sr. & Isabelle; sister, Shirley Lund; wife Verdelle; and wife Greta. He served as a sergeant in the military in Korea and Japan. He graduated from the University of Minnesota and was a career Probation Officer with Hennepin County. He was devoted to his family and a friend of many. He was a caring, gentle soul with a great sense of humor, sensed the absurdity of life's twists and turns and shrugged off the bad to keep moving on no matter what. He enjoyed frequent family gatherings, Minnesota Sports teams, jazz music, and wide-ranging conversations with friends. Survived by children, Laurie (Doug) Frevert, Julie (Jon) Kise, Krista (Peter) Johnson, Carrie (Kevin) Bjornson; sister, Delores Mrosak and her friend Richard Cameron; grandchildren, Jason (Alexis), Ben (Veneta), Tina (Alex), Amelia (Anthony), and Alec; great-grandchildren, Marshall, and one more soon to arrive; and many other relatives and friends. Visitation from 11:30-12:00 will be held Aug. 3rd, 2019 at Lakewood Memorial Chapel followed by a memorial service. Memorials preferred to the Animal Humane Society or KBEM-FM.
