Obituary of Lyle D. Nordquist

Lyle D. Nordquist, age 90, of Staples, MN, formerly of Watertown, SD, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Lakewood Heath System Care Center in Staples, MN. Services were held in Watertown. Lyle David Nordquist was born on May 26, 1927, to David and Leila (Larson) Nordquist in Stockholm, SD. He went to country school through the 8th grade, graduating from Strandburg, SD in 1945. Lyle joined the Army and served in the 52nd Battalion in Korea. He was discharged and returned to Watertown where he worked at the Chevrolet garage. He married Twyla McRoden on Nov. 3, 1948. They lived in Watertown for several years before moving to Sebeka, MN, with their three children. Lyle worked at M & H Chevrolet, he also drove school bus, delivered milk, owned & operated the Sebeka Cleaners and became Postmaster at Sebeka Post Office. He retired in 1987. Lyle's wife Twyla passed in 1980 from breast cancer, he married Barbara Walsh in 1981. They lived in Park Rapids, MN and wintered in AZ. Lyle is survived by his daughter, Connie Hall, Verndale, MN; son, Gary (Chris Milbradt), Williston, ND; daughter, Ann (Gary) Benson, Richfield, MN; step son, Russell (Donna) Walsh, Park Rapids, MN; sister, Doris Helbing; a sister-in-law, Mary McRoden; 9 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 6 step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Twyla, his wife Barbara, and his brother Marlyn.
