Obituary of Richard Dennis Lane

Lane, Richard D. Age 74, of Shorewood unexpectedly passed away November 4, 2014. He graduated from Roosevelt H.S. in '58, doing "ok" in sports and academics. He earned an electrical engineering Masters degree from U of Minnesota, and went on to a long career with Honeywell. Most likely his proudest achievement was his work on Apollo project to the moon. Dick was a real family man, raising his 2 boys in a fine way and always looking out for others. Growing up without a father, Dick took responsibility seriously from a young age. He loved football, fixing up houses, political musings, and reading the newspaper. Dick loved world travel but was a homebody at heart, loving to tinker around the house. Dick had battled ampullary cancer since 2001, miraculously escaping death many times. Suprisingly, he died suddenly and without pain at home in a matter of seconds, perhaps from a stroke or heart attack. Survived by wife Karen, sons Bret and Jay, 3 grandsons, siblings Paul, John, and Barbara. Celebration Event on Sunday, Nov 9, 5-8pm. Bring your favorite stories.
