Obituary of McKenna RaeAnn Lyrehc Verkennes

McKenna RaeAnn Lyrehc Verkennes, 6 months old, passed away peacefully at Children’s Hospital Minneapolis surrounded by her family on March 24th 2018. McKenna was born in Duluth, MN at Essentia Health on September 16th 2017. She was the daughter of Mason Verkennes and Breanna Berthiaume. McKenna was always a very happy, smiley little girl who always had her tongue sticking out. She loved when people would talk to her and tell her how beautiful she was. She also loved music therapy and people singing to her. She also loved watching her brother play. McKenna will be remembered by her strength. She was such a fighter and so feisty. After all she had been through she was still such a happy, silly girl that loved everything and could always put a smile on anyone’s face. McKenna is survived by her parents Mason Verkennes and Breanna Berthiaume; big brother Tanner; aunts Taylor Miner, Laina Kobernick, Hunter Frink; uncles Alex Buczynski and Matt Berthiaume; cousins Billy Dalpiaz and Brantley Garvey; grandparents Cheryl Miner, Greg Berthiaume, Tim Miner (Mary); great grandma Gloria Miner; godparents Bill Dalpiaz and Hannah Simiyu and many important aunts, uncles and a lot of cousins. She is preceded in death by her great grandparents Brenda Pekkala, Geri Berthiaume, Carla Faria, Archie Johnson and Fred Berthiaume; uncles Keith Faria, Rick Berthiaume and Norman Miner. Our family wants to say a big thank you to the medical staff at The Children’s Hospital Minneapolis CVCC for all the hard work and love you put into taking care of McKenna. Thank you all so much. Also a big thank you to McKenna’s Auntie Lindsey and Uncle Bruce for always going above and beyond with love and support. A celebration of life will be held at the Peter Rich Center in Superior at 2:00 pm, 1201 N 8th Street on Friday, April 13th 2018.
