Sethre, Arthur Elton
Of St. Paul, passed away on Aug. 30, 2015. Arthur was born in 1926 on a farm worked with horses and no electricity in Ottertail County, MN. He left for St. Olaf College at age 16, was drafted at 18 and served in the Pacific. Back at college, he met Frances Harris from crosstown rival Carlton College and married in 1948. Art graduated from the U of M Medical School and practiced in Fergus Falls. He was a classic small town doctor, and made many late night house calls. He and the family always looked forward to summers at their cottage at the Swan Lake Club. In 1970 Art relocated to St. Paul to join the medical department of 3M and had a distinguished second career in the corporate world. He also enjoyed golf and service at his church. Fran and Art retired to Pinehurst, NC before returning to St. Paul. They spent many happy years in the Presbyterian Homes system. The family appreciates the staff’s expert and kind care. Art was predeceased by Fran; brothers, Olaf, Alvin and Hans. He is survived by his children, Richard (Marilou), Mary, and Robert (Rita, son Aric). Memorial service at House of Hope Presbyterian Church, St. Paul, Mon., Oct. 12, visitation at 10:00 AM, service at 11:00 AM. Memorials to the U of M Medical Foundation, Parkinson’s Research Fund.
