Obituary of Gary David Anderson

Gary David Anderson, age 66, of Duluth passed away on March 26th, 2018. He was born in Duluth to Earl and Mary Anderson. He loved riding motorcycles, boating, sailing, swimming and snorkeling. He was a fish in the water. His favorite animal was cats. All his cats were rescue animals, which he dearly loved and cared for. At the age of 16, he sailed for Pittsburg Steamship and Cleveland Cliffs for 5 years. He worked many jobs on the waterfront, as a long shoreman, grain miller and shipyard worker. He retired after 35 years from the DM&IR ore docks in Two Harbors. Gary and Mary Lou enjoyed many great vacations in Florida, Jamaica and The Apostle Islands. He was known for his sense of humor and loved to tell jokes. Gary was a long-time member of the YMCA, Knights of Kaleva and Sampo Beach. He was preceded in death by his parents. Gary is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Mary Lou; sister, Deb; cousin, Mark; and Brothers-in-Law and Sisters-in-Law, Jim and Pat Grondahl, and Bill and Sandy Grondahl; and also many good friends. He will be dearly missed by all. Visitation: 2 p.m. until the 3 p.m. Memorial Service, Wednesday, April 4, 2018 in the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Ave, Duluth.
