Obituary of Ivan R. Salgy
Ivan R. Salgy, 74. passed away Nov. 9, 2014 in Yuma, Ariz., after complications from Heart surgery.
Ivan was born Sept. 15, 1940 in Duluth to Ivan Salgy and Mary Martin.
He served in the U.S. Army in Alaska from 1958-1961. He was proud to be Mason. After retiring from the City of Duluth as Foreman 1 in 1995, he was a snowbird wintering in Winterhaven, Calif., and Yuma Ariz., becoming a resident in 2008.
Ivan enjoyed watching his favorite football team Minnesota Vikings, exploring the desert on his ATV with his buddies, his trips to Laughlin, Nev., playing cards with friends and family, Bull Riding and Walleye fishing in Northern Minnesota and Canada, proclaiming himself as, "The Ole Master" of Walleye fishing and Cribbage playing.
He was preceded in death by his mother Mary; father Ivan; brother Ronnie and stepmother (Ma), Betty.
Ivan will be sadly missed by his children, Brenda (River) Dower, Steve (Susan) Salgy; their mother Jeanne Salgy; his brothers Dick (Joan) Salgy, Terry Salgy, Mark (Shirley) Salgy; sister Cindy (Bob) Pribnow; grandchildren Garrett Dower, Josh (Christen) Salgy, Sarah (Dontez) Oliver, Sarah (Tom) Salgy, Amber (James) Hawes and Steve Ivan Salgy; three great-grandchildren, another on the way, many nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: 2 p.m. until the 2:30 p.m. Celebration Saturday, Dec. 6, in First Memorial Chapel 4100 Grand Ave, Duluth
