Obituary of Sylvia L. Brodin
Sylvia L. Brodin, 98, of Duluth, passed away Friday, Nov. 28, 2014, in Barnes Care Assisted Living in Esko.
Sylvia was born in Palo, Minn., June 6, 1916, to John and Mary Hautala. She graduated from Aurora High School in 1935. She was the first Laskiainen Queen in 1937. Sylvia was working at Nopeming Sanitorium when she met and married the love of her life, Elton Brodin, in 1939. She retired from Nopeming after 35 years of employment.
Sylvia will always be remembered for her smile, laugh, sense of humor, her talent for remembering and telling jokes and her writing of poems.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Hautala; husband of 65 years, Elton; infant son Leroy; grandson Ricky Ziesmer; five brothers; and four sisters.
Sylvia will be missed by her three daughters, Carole (Ron) Radunz, Marilyn Lee and Bonita (David) DeFoe; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and many friends.
The family wishes to thank the Essentia hospice and Barnes Care staff for their loving care.
