Obituary of Eleanor E Maki

Eleanor E. Maki passed away peacefully Friday, November 28, 2014 at Viewcrest Health Care Center. She was born in Sebeka, Minn., on June 13 1920, to Hjalmer and Edla Savela and graduated from Sebeka High School. Eleanor enjoyed hymns and gospel singing, crossword puzzles, jumbles, playing Scrabble and crypto quips. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Eleanor worked most recently for Superior National Forest in procurement and property. She was a member of the Norton Park Friendship Club, Norton Park Friendship Singers, Stitch and Chatter Club and a lifetime member of Blood Donors. She had been a Member of Messiah Lutheran church before it merged with Kenwood Lutheran Church Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Willio; her parents; siblings, Viola Maki, Harry Savela and Impie Slaten. She is survived by her children, James (Judy) Maki, Jerry (Clarence Wong) Maki and Marilyn (Jeff) Knepper; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces. The family would like to thank the staff at Viewcrest Health Care Center and Essentia Health Hospice Care for their excellent, loving care and support. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Viewcrest Health Care Center, 3111 Church Place, Duluth, MN 55811. Gathering of family and friends from 2pm until the 3pm funeral service Friday, December 5th at the First Memorial Funeral Chapel, 4100 Grand Ave. Burial will be in Oneota Cemetery.
