Obituary of Joyce M. Johnson

Joyce M. Johnson, 79, of Duluth, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 in St. Luke’s Hospice. Joyce was born in Duluth, MN on July 16, 1935 to Godlob and Mary Jane (VanRossum) Meyer. She graduated from Morgan Park High School and attended UMD and Duluth Business University. Joyce married Chester Johnson at United Protestant Church in Morgan Park on May 26 1962. Together they had three children, James, Jordan and Jane. Prior to marriage Joyce worked for Consolidated Abstract Co. and in later years she worked at Montgomery Wards and several other retail outfits at the Miller Hill Mall. She devoted most of her life to her husband, children, grandchildren and other family members. She is preceded in death by her parents, Godlob and Mary Jane Meyer; brother Godlob “Babe”; sister in-law Evelyn Meyer and an infant sister. She is survived by her husband Chester of 52 years; children, James (Kim), Jordan (Ginger), Jane, (Richard) Moran, and grandchildren, Nicholas, Christopher, Courtney, Jordan, Zack, Justin, Jacob, Ashley, Kelly and Shane and her brother Chuck (Shirley) Meyer. The family wishes to thank Dr. Daniel Robinson and the other St. Luke’s doctors, the ICU, Cardiac and Hospice units for the wonderful care given to Joyce. Visitation will be held from 10 am until the 11 am memorial service on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 in United Protestant Church in Morgan Park 830 88th Avenue West, Duluth, MN.
