Obituary of Clark Hathaway Dohm
Clark Hathaway Dohm, 91, Duluth, died peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015 at the Franciscan Health Center.
Clark was born Jan. 3, 1924 in Hibbing, Minn., to Irma and John W. Dohm I.
His siblings are John W. Dohm II (deceased - Moorhead, Minn.), Jane Dohm Johnson, Edina, Minn., and Richard R. Dohm, Columbia, Mo.
Clark joined the Navy during World War II and was stationed in the Philippines. After the war, he attended the University of Minnesota where he met his wife, Jean Taylor of Duluth.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, Jean Taylor Dohm; children Debbie (Jim) Reyland of Nashville, Tenn., Judy (Dick) LeRoux of Seattle, Wash., and Betsy (Doug) Emery of Baltimore, Md.; his six grandchildren JP LeRoux, Maggie Reyland, Emily Reyland, Kelly Emery, Jack Emery, Peter Emery and his nieces and nephews.
Special gratitude is felt for niece Barbara Plumb and nephew David Lewis as well as Dr. Timothy C. Kleinschmidt, the wonderful caregivers at the Franciscan Health Center and Clark's Radisson family.
Clark was in the hotel industry for over 50 years. He managed hotels in Minneapolis, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Duluth, Atlanta and Chicago. As general manager, he opened the Radisson Duluth Hotel in 1970 and was there for three years. After spending time in Atlanta with the Radisson Corporation and in Chicago at the North Shore Hilton, he returned to manage the Radisson Duluth Hotel for an additional 10 years. Clark was also a long term member of the Duluth Rotary Club.
His favorite pastimes included golfing with wife Jean, family, and friends at Northland and Lester Park golf courses, visiting his daughters and their families, and enjoying his friends at their weekly breakfasts and lunches.
