Richard A. Olsen, Sr.
Richard “Dick” A. Olsen, Sr. passed away on Monday, February 23, 2015 surrounded by family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Margie and Elmer Olsen, and his son Richard Olsen, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Sharron; his daughters Jennifer (Bill) Hance and Cindy (Kevin) Hanamann; grandchildren Nicholas, Michael, Andrew, Emilie, Molly, Tasha, Callee and Konnor; brothers Roger (Judy) Olsen, Michael (Kathleen) Olsen and Mark (Tammy) Olsen. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Dick was born in Beloit, WI on August 13, 1940. He was a graduate of Beloit Catholic High School. He married his school sweetheart and worked for Fairbanks Morse in the Engine Division for 35 years. Dick and Sharron were long-time residents of New Richmond, WI, where they raised their 3 children.
Dick was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing with his family and friends his entire life. Dick’s love of the outdoors was passed along to his children and grandchildren and the family spent many weekends together at the family cabin in northern WI.
Dick and Sharron became well known fixtures in a number of hockey arenas in MN and WI where they were often found cheering on their grandsons at their hockey games. Dick was a loving and devoted family man whose wit and mischievous sense of humor will live on through the re-telling of his many “stories” for years to come.
Memorial Service will be at 2PM (family gathering beginning at 1PM) on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at The Cremation Society of MN – Brooklyn Park Chapel, 7835 Brooklyn Boulevard, Brooklyn Park, MN 55445.
