Obituary of Donald Urban Merritt

Donald "Don" Urban Merritt, 79, of Duluth, passed away April 8, 2015, with his loving wife by his side. Don was born Aug. 3, 1935, to Frank and Marguerite Ludwig Merritt. Don spent many years working for ISD 709, built and remodeled houses, worked with his son at Northern Trends Builders and was a Jack-of-all-trades. Too many jobs to mention, and he never retired! He fought a good fight with kidney failure surviving on dialysis almost 13 years! He loved building things with his hands, camping, cribbage and cards. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Joseph and Thomas; and his sister, Pauline Kulas. Don is survived by his wife, Lorraine; children Scott, Daniel (Toni) and Sandra, all of Duluth; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
