Obituary of Carolyn Dieter

Carolyn Dieter, 75, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2015. Carolyn was born July 16, 1939 in Duluth. She grew up in Lakeside and attended Lester Park Schools. While raising her family, she attended DBU and received a degree in Accounting and Business Management. She worked for the Energy Assistance program for many years and also had Carolyn's Day Care for many years. Carolyn's life interests included raising four daughters and three sons. Her passion in life was to do nice things for others. Carolyn was known as the "cake and card lady" because it was very important to her that people be recognized on their birthday. Her other interests were arts and crafts, baking, working puzzles, playing cards and dice and getting together with the girls in her club and doing a lot of entertaining. Carolyn was the "Jack of all trades". Her most important thing of all was taking care of her "MUCH" (private joke). Carolyn was preceded in death by her husbands, James D. Pyrlik and Robert G. Dieter; her daughter, Charmaine Lassila; her granddaughter, Tieh; her grandson, Andrew; her parents, Vi and Gus Morrison Sr.; her brothers, Gus Morrison, Jr., Tim Morrison and Tom Morrison of Cheyenne, Wyo.; nephew, Gussie Jo Morrison; sisters, Christine Anderson and Patricia DeBryin; sister-in-law, Joann Morrison and her grandparents. Carolyn is survived by her sons, James A. (Lori) Pyrlik, Duluth, Joseph D. (Robin) Pyrlik, Duluth, George G. (Judy) Dieter, Duluth; daughters, Cheryl J. (Rich) Mancuso, Duluth, Crystal M. (Glen) Nettles, McMinnville, Tenn., and Candis M. (Mark) Dieter, Proctor; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Morrison of Nevada; sister-in-law, Arlene of Duluth; sister, Michele Wick of Wyoming; brother-in-law, Larry DeBryin of Sebring, Fla.; brother-in-law, Andy Anderson of St. Paul; and many nieces and nephews and life long friends, whom she truly cherished. Carolyn was a kind, loving, and giving person and her passion to help others will be sadly missed by all. Birthdays will not be the same without her tenderness and thoughtfulness. A special thank you to St. Luke's staff, St. Luke's Hospice, Dr. Buresh and Dr. Robinson. GATHERING OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS: 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. memorial service on Friday, May 1, in the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Ave., Duluth. A luncheon will be held following the service in the reception room.
