Obituary of Donna Noreine Kertz
Donna Noreine Kertz, age 86, of Hopkins, MN. Hat lover, chocolate connoisseur and UND Hockey fan, Donna enjoyed socializing and dressing up to the nines to do it. Always playful and witty, she was a great listener and loved hearing a good joke or two. Donna's favorite happy place was her lake home in Kenora, Ontario where she spent seventy plus summers laughing and relaxing with her family and friends. The consummate putterer, not known to move at lightning speed, she surprised all of us when she decided to sprint up to heaven to be with her loved ones and God, Tuesday, April 28, 2015 after a brief illness. Donna was born in Langdon, ND June 8, 1928, to Otto and Josephine Platz. She graduated from St. Alphonsus High School in 1946. She attended the University of North Dakota and the Minnesota School of Business. She married her high school sweetheart, Robert Kertz, January 3, 1953. They set up residence in New York City before moving back to Langdon, where they began their large family of eight children before relocating to South Bend, IN, then eventually to Thief River Falls, MN. After the death of her husband, Robert in 2001, she moved to the Twin Cities, then most recently, St. Therese of Hopkins, MN where she was able to enjoy the company of many new, loving friends. In addition to her husband, Donna was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Jean King. Her survivors include: her sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Joe Lewis, brother-in-law Jim Kertz, and sisters-in-law Margaret Kertz and Marlyn Kertz, as well as her children John (Lisa Gunderson), Thief River Falls, MN, Julie Rochat (Jim), Minnetonka, MN, Tom (Lynn), Minnetonka, MN, Mike (Robyn), Dallas, TX, Mary Stovall (Ron), Fort Worth, TX, Tracy Phelps (Paul), Eagan, MN, Paula Arthur, Apple Valley, MN and Joe (Martha), Austin, TX.
