Obituary of Reginald Rueben Owens

Reginald Rueben "Sonny" Owens, 76, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2015. Reginald is survived by his wife Barbara (LeRoux) Owens, children, Reginald Owens (Angie), Julie Galinaitis (Wayne), Andreas Owens, Greg Ramirez, Lisa Owens, Janette Chamberlin and Anastasia Owens; 3 brothers, Daynor, Wayne and George, 2 sisters Phillis Wright-Willis and Beatrice Williams. He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Reginald served as a Master Sergeant in the Air Force where he earned several medals including the Bronze Star Medal and Meritorious Service Medal. He grew up in Philadelphia, PA. Graduating from Philadelphia Central High School, then continued on to receive a Bachelor ’s from Iowa State University and Doctorate from Pacific University. Reginald spent 15 years as a Vice President with Metropolitan Life Insurance before venturing out as an independent business owner. Reginald is preceded in death by his parents, James Reginald and Clare Owens; sister s, Claudia Fuller and Shirley Engle-Smith. He will be interred at a Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. A memorial will be held in the Philadelphia area this summer.
