Obituary of William J. Norris
William J. Norris, 84 of Minnetonka, formerly of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, passed away peacefully on May 24th, 2015. Bill was born in Chicago on July 30, 1930. He attended Chicago Public Schools and was a proud member of Austin High School’s 1947 City Championship football team. He attended Lewis College for several semesters before entering the carpentry trade. He married Lois Joan Mey in 1950, and they raised two sons at their Glen Ellyn home. Bill worked as a carpenter and foreman, building two homes for his own family, before retiring in 1992. He was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears, enjoyed fishing, and maintained an extensive flower and vegetable garden at his Glen Ellyn home. Bill moved to Sunrise Senior Living in Minnetonka after Lois passed away on January 21, 2014.
Preceded in death by his parents, William S. and Margaret Norris, beloved wife Lois, sisters, Margaret “Ethel” Lawless and Jeanne Demopoulos, and brother, Raymond Norris. Survived by his brothers, James (Barbara) of Oak Lawn, IL, Robert (Marcia) of Sunrise, FL, and Russell (Regina) of McHenry, IL, sister Shirley Schneider of Montgomery City, MO, sons, William R. Norris (Carol) of Eden Prairie, MN and Jeffrey Norris of San Francisco, CA, grandchildren, Martha and Mary Norris, and great grandchildren Mia, Keo, and Elliot.
Memorial Service Thursday, May 28, 2015. Visitation at 6:30 p.m. followed by the service at 7 p.m. at Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4343 Nicollet Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55409
