Obituary of Arlene Thorson Halverson

Arlene Thorson Halverson, age 84, of Hermantown, MN passed away Monday, September 2, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.  Arlene was born April 8, 1940 to Eric and Florence Thorson in Duluth, MN where she attended and graduated from Denfeld High School. 

She was united in marriage to Roger Halverson on July 25, 1959 at Salem Lutheran in Hermantown, MN. Roger and Arlene built a house in Hermantown where she raised her loving family of four children.  She worked as a CNA for Viewcrest and Afternro Nursing Home until she retired.  She enjoyed spending time with family at the summer cabin, loved garage sales, traveling to Florida for the Winter and she really enjoyed her Wednesday quilting club and fellowship.  And of course, best of all was sitting with dad on the swing.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, Eric and Florence Thorson; sisters, Therise Holmberg, Alvera Shatto; brothers, Edward and Herbert Thorson; and son, Clifford.

She is survived by her loving husband, Roger; her brother, John (Deni) Thorson; her son, Duane (Susie) Halverson; daughter, Karen (Bill) Larson and Lori (Russ) Dahlen; along with nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.  We will so miss her loving smile and wonderful bear hugs.

Visitation will be 1:00 pm until the 2:00 pm Memorial Service on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Salem Lutheran Church, 4715 Hermantown Road, Hermantown, followed by a graveside service at Bethany Cemetery with a reception to follow at the church.
