Obituary of Carol Jean Oja
Carol Jean Oja, 72, of Hermantown, Minn. passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 surrounded by her family.
She was born May 20, 1944 in Duluth, Minn. She married Philip Oja in 1970 and raised two sons. She loved being a grandma and great-grandma. She also enjoyed spending time at her cabin on Caribou Lake, wintering in Arizona and traveling the country with her companion Mitch. Carol told her family she was at peace with dying because she'd done everything she ever wanted to do in her life. She lived life on her own terms and her beautiful spirit will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her husband Philip, her parents, and brother Paul Sandberg.
Carol is survived by her sons Glenn Oja and Matt (Amanda) Oja; grandchild Melissa Kalm; great-grandchild Rodney; brother Carl (Evelyn) Sandberg; companion Mitch Newstrand; as well as extended family members and friends.
The family thanks all of the beautiful and caring people at St. Luke's Hospice.
CELEBRATION OF LIFE: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016 at the family cabin on Caribou Lake.
