Obituary of Mary Anne Korum
Mary Anne (Libra) Korum, age 92, died peacefully on August 26, 2016, surrounded by her children. As mother of 11, Mary found no greater joy than being with her family, and her positive spirit was the bright light in any gathering. Mary was born in Hinckley, MN, on December 22, 1923, and lived there through her high school graduation. She then moved to Minneapolis where she worked for Minneapolis-Moline and contributed to the war effort. On May 1, 1948, she married Willis Korum. They began their life together in Bloomington before relocating to Northfield, MN, in 1974, where they lived until their later years. Mary made friends wherever she went, and always enjoyed finding a common connection with people. That gift made her a natural in her job selling Fuller Brush and, later, doing in-store demos at the Burnsville Byerly's. She was active in the St. Dominic's church community and was a dedicated volunteer in her children's schools and community organizations such as Birthright. Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Willis; her father and mother, Anton and Anna Libra; her sisters Ann, Barb and Martha; her brothers Rudy, and twins Eddie and Teddy; her eldest son, Duane, and her grandson, Steven Crain. She is survived by her brother, Tony Libra; sons Doug (Donna); Greg; Jeff (Laurie) and Steve (Kathy); her daughters Pat (Tom); Sandra Cunningham; Teresa Erickson (Curt); Sonja Crain; Anita Nelson (Ken) and Deanna Fjelsted; as well as 18 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, with another on the way. Mary will be dearly missed and will always be remembered for her joie de vivre, kind spirit and sincere love of people. Memorials preferred in her name to Sharing and Caring Hands. Visitation is on Wednesday, August 31st, from 4-8 p.m. Service: Thursday, Sept. 1, at 11 a.m., with visitation 1 hour prior. Both services will take place at Cremation Society of Minnesota, 7110 France Ave. S. Edina, MN, 952-924-4100
