Obituary of Laurel Thurston Bessesen
Laurel Thurston Bessesen, age 93, of Minnetonka, formerly of Edina, passed away September 20, 2016. Preceded in death by husband, John; and brother, Hutch (Jane). Survived by children, John (Beth), William, and Laurel Cookie Sweatt; and granddaughter, Anne-Marit (Ben Kerr). Born in Mpls, graduated from South High School, studied art at the U of M, worked for Mid-Continent Airlines as a flight attendant in 1939. Loved saddlebred horses and figure skating. A yachts woman who drove her own Corvette. Past President of Federated Woman’s Clubs of MN. Prominent member of retired airlines attendants “Braniff Clipped Bees”. A WCCO Good Neighbor. She was a member of the DAR and the Mary Esther Sunshine Circle assisting shut-ins and the needy. She loved John, they were joyfully married for 53 years. She was his partner in all their escapades and possessed a divine sense of humor. A keen intellect, and was perhaps the best mom ever. She will be remembered lovingly by the ones whose lives she touched. Memorial service Sunday, Oct. 2 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cremation Society of MN, 7110 France Ave S., Edina, 952-924-4100. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
