Obituary of Donald Eugene Fisher
Don passed away peacefully in his sleep, Thursday morning, in St. Louis Park, MN. While he lived most of his life in the Twin Cities, a part of his heart was always back home on the farm in Hinkley, MN. He even received the Hinkley newspaper every week no matter where he was. He shared a love of tractors with his great-grandson Konrad, and due to his many years working for Braniff and Northwest Airlines, he could name any plane in the sky on site. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty in 2001 and his son Gary in 2012. Survived by daughters, Tammy Comstock, Earlene Showalter, Patty Schumacher, 9 grandkids and 10 great-grandchildren. In accordance with his wishes, we will be honoring him with a Celebration of Life on Saturday October 22nd from 2pm-6pm at 7020 W 23rd St. in St. Louis Park, MN.
A note from his granddaughter:
This week this world lost the best man I've ever known. My grandpa taught me many things throughout my life but the most important thing was that you take care of your family no matter what. He took on a family that wasn't even his and loved them and raised them as his own. Family is what you make it. He was a man of few words and some thought that meant he was a curmudgeon, he wasn't one for pretense. Mean what you say and say what you mean. Not everyone saw the sides of him I did, he was funny and could laugh at life and not take things too seriously. He taught me to fish, to ride a bike, to drive, and this week he taught me to never take anyone for granted. Hug the ones you love and never forget to tell them how much they mean to you.
