Obituary of Kathleen Denise Horton

Kathleen Denise Horton, 62, died October 16, 2016, having faced illness and death with a brave heart. Kathy was born in Detroit, Michigan, November 16, 1953. She graduated from Michigan State University and began a career in Outdoor Education where she inspired young people to connect with Nature and to learn about themselves. Her love of art led her to attend the Art Institute of Boston to study graphic arts. She eventually managed design departments, mentored others and volunteered her design services to countless organizations and friends. Her friends knew her as a great outdoor enthusiast, and athlete but also as a thoughtful, caring person always ready to lend a helping hand, listen intently or share her zest for life. She is survived by her sister, Judy Dunham and her brother-in-law, Terry Dunham. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, October 24, at 2:00pm at Lakewood Cemetery’s Chapel, 3600 Hennepin Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55408. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to N. C. Little Hospice, 7019 Lynmar Lane, Edina, MN 55435.
