Obituary of Violet Mae Hazelton
Violet Mae (Berge) Hazelton was promoted to heaven Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at St. Mary’s Hospital in
Madison Wisconsin.
Violet was born at the family farm at Wahkon, Minnesota March 31, 1923 to Henry and Edith
Berge. She graduated from Isle High School as the Valedictorian of the class of 1940.
Violet enjoyed growing up with her 4 brothers, and fell in love with their friend Duane. They got
married in 1946 and started their own family. Most of that beautiful family life was spent on 120
acres in Hazelton Township near Aitkin, MN. It was full of love humor, music and faith. Violet and
Duane's love resulted in 4 children, 9 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. In her words," It has been a wonderful life"
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Edith Berge, husband Duane, and 4
brothers, Stanley, Harry and Richard and Keith.
Violet is survived by sons Keith (Ana), of Madison, Wisconsin, Alan (Ella), of Harlan, Iowa, Lester (Beth), of Duluth, Minnesota, and daughter Mary Cravens (Dwight), of Minneapolis, Minnesota, 9 grandchildren, Duane (Sarah), Mark (Stephanie), Tom (Amy), Dan, Jack, Norah
(Ben), Daniel, (special friend Alex) Natalie (fiance Ben), Christopher (special friend Staci), 7
bonus grandchildren, Jesse, Elle, Annaka, Isaac, Hannah, Kiah and Henry, and 7 great-grandchildren. A brother Dr. Kenneth Berge of Rochester, Minnesota, nieces, nephews and many friends.
A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, Oct 22, 2016 at Pine Lake Chapel, Cutler,
Minnesota with burial at the Bennettville Cemetery at a later date.
Friends are invited to join the family for a time of fellowship in the church basement following the
service.
