Obituary of Ralph A. Olson

Ralph A. Olson, 81, of Duluth, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016 in Essentia Health. Ralph was born in Virginia, on Dec. 3, 1934 to Eino and Gerda (Swanson) Olson. Ralph worked in many capacities for the Duluth Winnipeg and Pacific Railway (CN). The last 12 years he served as a labor and personnel officer. Ralph was an avid Minnesota sports fan and he also enjoyed golfing and bowling as well as traveling. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Nancy Gail Lundgren; and sister-in-law, Audrey Olson. Ralph is survived by his wife, Diane; sons, Robert (Kathy), Jon and David (Susan); grandchildren, Jeff (Tiffany), Joseph (Courtney), Laura, Erika (Mike), Josh (Jackie), Kyle, Nynee, Jillyan, Paige and Garrett; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Raymond and Roy (Angie) and former daughter-in-law Rita (Bo) Ellington. The family extends a warm thank you to the 9th floor Essentia staff for the extraordinary care they provided Ralph during his illness. A private family service will be held.
