Obituary of Vernon LeRoy Johnson

Vernon LeRoy Johnson, age 87, of Lakeville, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2016 with family at his side, ending his courageous battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was born in St. James, MN, graduating from St. James High School in 1946 and Gustavus Adolphus College in 1952. He served in the Army with the 187th Paraglider regiment of the 11th Airborne in Japan. A long time employee of Fairway Foods in Northfield, Vernon retired as controller in 1994. Vern will be remembered as a loving, gentle man of faith and integrity. Preceded in death by his parents, Carl Lenne Johnson and Magdelena (Fenzlein); sisters, Shirley Newberg and Norma Carlson. Survived by his wife of 64 years, Elaine (Aspelund); daughters, Kim Sadler and Kay (Peter) Day; grandchildren, Marit (Aaron) Otterson and Amanda, Jason & Andrew Day. Service of Life will be held on December 22nd at Hosanna! Church, 9600 163rd St. W., Lakeville, MN, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation 1 hour prior. Private burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
